A Trip to Southern California

So are you wondering where to take trip to this year? Southern California is a popular vacation spot for many people. The draw of warm sunny days, ocean breezes, and movie star glam draw thousands of people to visit The Golden State every year.

There really is an endless amount of things to see and do in Southern California. A good start might be to visit the beaches. After all, what is a visit to California if you don't check out the beaches? a popular beach around the Orange County area is Huntington beach. It is home to many events such as surf and volleyball competitions. Another noteworthy beach is Santa Monica beach. This beach is particularly interesting because of its pier which is an attraction of its own. The pier is more like an amusement park than a pier, with restaurants, games, and a large ferris wheel that lights up the night. But really, any beach will be fine as you enjoy the hot sun, cool waters, and refreshing breezes.

Of course a major draw of Southern California is Hollywood. Hollywood is always worth checking out with its floor lined with stars and some great restaurants and theatres. For those that want to get some shopping done head on over to the Beverly Shopping Center for all your shopping needs. I must warn you now though that it the items on sale there can be pretty pricey, but you wouldn't expect any less of Hollywood right?

For the sports fans out there, there are plenty of sporting events to attend as well. For all the baseball fans out there, you can either check out the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at Edison Field, or for those that bleed dodge blue, you can do see them at Dodger Stadium. For the basketball fan you can also take your pick between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers. The Lakers are obviously the better team however, tickets to the Clippers game will be much cheaper and easier to get. For the Hockey fan, the Anaheim Ducks can be seen at the Honda Center. Football fans are a bit out of luck since Los Angeles lost both of their teams. If you're willing to make a bit of a trip though, you can either go see the San Diego Chargers down south or take a trip north to watch the San Francisco 49ers.

For the younger crowd or for those young at heart, a trip to Southern California wouldn't be complete without a trip over to Disneyland. It is the happiest place on earth after all. For any of those interested Disneyland is definitely worth taking a day or two to check out. The rides may not be the fastest or the most thrilling; however Disneyland is much more about the atmosphere than the rides. The whole theme park is transformed into a different world bringing you back to your favorite Disney pictures. After the theme park, you can check out downtown Disney which is an outdoor plaza with places to shop and eat.
