Blind Dates - Would You?

By: Nathan Knightly

I have friends that have been on blind dates, but it never happened to me. There are some success stories even though there are some horror stories out there about these dates. When you go on a blind date you may need to keep in mind that this may either be the very best date of your life, or it may end up being the most unpleasant. Lets hope you have not put your dating life into the hands of persons who will make the wrong choices for you, but sometimes, even though with good intentions will miss the mark completely.

Usually blind dates are fixed by well meaning friends. These friends are just sure the two of you are ideal for one another, but you might not be so sure. You may be leery of meeting men (or women) this way, but it may be a great thing. I think you should possibly decide how sensible your friends are before you let them set you up. Before you go on any blind dates, make sure you find out why they think you will like each other. You might not want to go if they are going on looks alone. Make certain there is a deeper interest that you may have in common.

A lot of blind dates miss the mark so badly that you ask yourself what your friends were thinking. They may not have been, or they may have only been wrong. Even two persons who wrote to each other can be a big mismatch in person. When you accept a date from a person you meet, you have already felt some sort of chemistry or you wouldn't be going. When you agree to blind dates, you don't have that to go by. That's the reason why there are some problems.

Friends will try to send friends on blind dates for as long as there are single persons on earth. If you think you can allow your friends to set you up, make certain you provide them a few solid rules to go by, or they might set you up with a person you will have interest in. Just be certain they have more reasons for setting you up than the line, "But he's cute!" Because there is an element of truth in there somewhere, movies about blind dates going wrong are really funny. If you have ever gone on a bad date, or know a person who has, you can truly appreciate the real life humor involved.
