Yeast Infection? Give Me a Break!

Yeast infection is experienced by approximately 75 percent of all women at some point in their lives. Every man, woman and child carries the organisms that can cause yeast infections.

If a yeast infection happens or more accurately when a yeast infection will happen depends on many factors depending on gender, hormonal imbalances and other factors that may contribute to the imbalance that allows the candida albicans to grow unchecked because the natural controlling microorganisms aren’t present or are reduced from their normal numbers.

Men and women are often our body’s enemy when it comes to yeast infections. Some of the things that we do or don’t do can contribute to the imbalance that lets yeast infections to occur. Some of the activities are:

* douches.
* pregnancy.
* having vaginal sex right after anal sex without practicing good hygiene in between.
* diabetes mellitus.
* antibiotics.
* breast feeding
* lubricants with glycerine.
* infertility treatments.
* hormone replacement therapy

Some of the symptoms of a yeast infection may be itching, burning and soreness of the vagina or vulva. There may be a whitish or whitish-grayish discharge and irritation of the vulva or vagina which is another symptom.

The two primary methods of diagnosis that medical professionals use are cultures and microscopic examinations.

Yeast infections happen when your body is out of balance. Whether you use prescriptions, over-the-counter treatments or home remedies will depend on you and your medical professional. I strongly urge you to investigate every possible solution before you and your medical advisor choose a medical treatment.

Educating yourself about the causes, preventions and treatments available for yeast infection will give you the opportunity to adjust your lifestyle and treatments to reduce or eliminate the re-occurrence of yeast infections.
